The European Commission has launched a Digital Opportunities project for students to train future IT staff.

The internship program is a pilot project that will offer students from all disciplines to develop their digital skills through internships in the participating companies. The initiative is funded by Horizon 2020 and will be implemented through Erasmus +. 6,000 students or newly graduated students will be able to get support for cross-border internships during the 2018-2020 period.

Traineeships will be to improve digital skills in areas such as data integrity, cybersecurity, information systems and networks, application and software development, and digital marketing.

After graduation, students will have the opportunity to be employed in digital companies.

Students and students who graduate this year are enrolled through the university that they have completed, in accordance with the time and procedures established by the Erasmus + internship. The pilot project is open to all countries participating in the Erasmus + program and to the countries associated with Horizon 2020.

The first internships will begin in June 2018, and the trainees will receive a monthly salary of around € 500, with an average duration of five months.
